On the east coast of Canada, the Maritimes have some of the best poker ringers in the country to throw in the mix and Nova Scotia’s Owen Crowe certainly deserves the top of the list, currently sitting with around $4,000,000 in combined online and live tournament winnings.
Just on track record alone, it is no surprise that most top professionals will bring up Owen’s name, if you ask which Canadian players they respect and enjoy the challenge of playing against most. On top of that, Owen is known to be easy going and fun loving; pretty solid reasons that he is well liked in the poker community.
Over the course of his poker career, Owen is averaging about a half million dollars a year in tournament winnings and currently sits around 25th on the “Canadian All Time Tournament Winnings” lists.
When it comes to the World Series of Poker, Crowe is one of those players that there is little doubt if he will win an event, it is more just a matter of when and long overdue. Owen has finished in the Top 100 of the $10,000 World Championship of No Limit Hold’em twice already, making the final two tables, finishing 15th in 2008 for over $435,000 and then following it up 2009 for a 79th place and almost $70,000. At the 2010 WSOP, Crowe came as close as one can come to winning the gold, with a second place finish in a $1000 event worth a cool three hundred grand. Of Crowe’s eight pervious WSOP cashes, 3 were at final tables and 2 others were in the final twenty, leaving it safe to say Owen is just one coin flip in his favor away from the bragging rights and the prestige of being one of those that has a bracelet as opposed to the vast majority of those who don’t.
Owen has also won several medium limit events at the LAPCs,combined hauls worth $100,000+. Of Crowe’s eight prior WSOP cashes, 3 were at final tables, with two others being in the final twenty. Already in 2011 Owen has cashed again in the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em Event, but it as we write this is still underway.
Online, the screen names “OCrowe” and “adan12″ are synonimis with crushing major event series and large field multi table tournaments; globally, only a small percentage of players have racked up the almost $2.5 million in MTT winnings that Owen has under his belt. The young player has amassed almost 2.3 million dollars in online tournament winnings alone; the majority of his haul being won on PokerStars, with Crowe’s largest single internet poker cash so far was $218,250 dollars. As well, more recently (and quite notably), during the first Canadian Championships of Online Poker hosted by PokerStars last November, “Ocrowe” topped the leader board, with 3 final tables that included a win over the 11 events. Crowe’s domination over the series earned him six months of entries into the Sunday Millions, almost guaranteeing his earnings will continue to soar.
*Update:
Top results for Owen Crowe in the 2011 WSOP Event #28 now bring him to over $1,094,000 in World Series of Poker winnings alone; an amount that even surpasses totals of those who have finished in the “November Nine”, like Matt Jarvis’ 8th place finish for instance.
Crowe is most likely alright with collecting over $192,000 for his efforts and his fans and friends are certainly impressed, this is the also the fourth final table Crowe has made in the past 4 years, definitely long over due to get his “gold”.
**Update: “OCrowe” won the Sunday Warm-up in August of 2011 for $101,768, adding yet another major online win to his resume.
