Vancouver players have been cleaning up in the major online poker series this past month, but one in particular seems to be “hogging” up a good portion of the loot. “Big_Nemo” on PokerStars, who goes by “Cupcakethepig” on Full Tilt Poker, has had quite a run in the past few weeks; he was the last Canadian standing when the FTOPS XX $600+40 Main Event wrapped up on May 1st, finishing a respectable 5th place worth $137,180 and now has followed it up with a win in PokerStar’s 2011 SCOOP Event #7 worth over $81,000!
269 players combined in the “High” $1575 No Limit Hold’em Heads
Up Event, where Campbell AKA “Big_Nemo” insta-chopped the prize money with the other half of the final two. $10,000 and the coveted SCOOP watch were left in the middle however, with our BC boy eventually bagging the win. This past two weeks of play accounts for roughly half of the $566,000+ of this grinders “tracked” winnings to date, who is clearly having a little of the “run good” players pray to the poker gods for.
Also building on epic starts to 2011 major online series, Montreal’s Sebastian “p0cKet00″ Sikorski who had multiple final tables in FTOPS XX currently sits 12th on this SCOOP’s leader board, while Vancouver’s Amir “UhhMee” Barer, holds the top spot at the conclusion of the first 30 events played so far.
Amir is a repeat top player from the previous FTOPS installments held so far this year, finishing up in the 8th points spot for the series that just ended.
So far in this Spring Championship Of Online Poker Series “UhhMee” has five cashes, three of which are final table finishes of fifth place or better. Approaching $90,000 worth of in the money finishes just this series alone, Amir has now broken the 2 million dollar mark for online poker Multi Table Tournament winnings.
If Barer can hold the lead to the conclusion of the series, 1st place is worth a Player of the Series trophy, 2011 WCOOP Main Event ticket, 2012 PCA prize package, EPT Grand Final prize package and a Special Edition PokerStars chip set. Good Luck to him and all of our other contenders!
Some other notable Canadian finishes as of May 12th include a win by player “xSuPrA” in the “High” $1050 Rebuy Turbo Hold’em Event #5, worth just shy of $158,000. “QcKimo” finished 6th at the same final table for $36,700 and currently sits tied for 8th for the series leader board. Real name listed only as Charles-E, this Canuck from parts unknown has amassed at least 1.7 million in “official” online winnings so far.
Finally,(and we must add “just so far” since things are just beginning), Jason “StatusUp” Lavalee from Montreal shipped Event #8, a $2100 Mixed Hold’em 6-Max, the win worth $56,680.
There is plenty of cash yet to be won and we are certain our players will take a big chunk of it, back with more updates soon!
